If anything typified this Labour Governments giltedging of already badly crafted European Law this does.
The European Parliament voted today to ban the sale and manufacture in Europe of all products containing mercury. Fair enough, except that this included one of the oldest British trades, the manufacture of barometers.
Whilst the Conservative MEP’s fought stoically to negotiate an exception for the three remaining people licensed to produce barometers in England they discovered they where being undermined in their efforts by none other than this Labour Government campaigning against them.
Shame on Labour, I do not want it to be ever said again people have a warped view of Europe or that we peddle mistruths. Is it really that hard to take a stand up for England and common sense?
