Breaking news – Stabbing in the heart of Broughton 10 June, 2007

Filed under: Crime, Kersal — odze @ 2:36 pm

Less then half an hour ago a man was stabbed on leicester road in Higher Broughton. The “alleged” attacker is a know person who is mentally unstable.

Shneur Odze Conservative coordinator for Kersal and Broughton said “without prejudging the outcome of any police inquiry I blame the authorities and the Council. He has come to their attention many times and anyone who knew him knew that this was almost inevitable. I just hope his victim makes a speedy recovery. I would further call on anyone who saw it and has any information to call the police on 0161 872 5050.

Another burglary 10 June, 2007

Filed under: Crime, Kersal — odze @ 10:29 am

Just got a call and attended an impromptu residents meeting to be told there has been a further burglary this time on the first houe on Radford Street right opposite the police station on Bury new road. The residents I just went to meet were almost fatalistic about it when I voiced my anger and the cheek the thief’s to do it so close to a police station. They just retorted saying we expected this, we told them so, and sadly we have been proven right. When are the politicians and police going to wake up and realise that visible policing does work?

Bins - Education 9 June, 2007

Filed under: Kersal — odze @ 11:26 pm

I got an irate constituent not the usual suspect, collar me today asking why the council won’t provide him with a bin? If we are ever to recycle properly it will only ever be through proper partnership and education. So why is Salford Council only distributing pathetically small bins? It just angers residents and prevents them from coming onside.

Car crime victimless? 8 June, 2007

Filed under: Crime, Kersal — odze @ 4:35 pm

A constituent who I have had dealing with before called me today to tell me that his wife’s car had been broken into outside work again, not so long ago one of her colleges’ cars was burned out. To add insult to injury he lives near a recently closed police station, and since its closure in the last 18 mouths his car has been vandalised three times, including being written off twice.

What can one say to such a man? The police are totally disinterested all they do its give him a crime reference number and say we will look into never to return and his case is not untypical.

Car theft is rated as soft crime by this government, I defy anyone to come and see the havoc car crime has brought onto this family. We need more local and visible policeing to take action not “community support officers”.

Quote of the week 8 June, 2007

Filed under: Parliament — odze @ 2:23 pm

Sir Bill Morris former leader of the T&G union I man I have little in common with but much respect for, said yesterday in Parliament “experience will have taught us that you cannot reclassify cannabis, expand the licensing hours for out of hour’s alcohol consumption, expand the numbers of gambling casinos, and then expect crime to fall. That my lords is a policy for an other planet.” One could have been forgiven for forgetting this came from Mr. Blair’s favoured union leader during most of his decade in number 10.

Where our money goes 8 June, 2007

Filed under: Europe, Parliament — odze @ 2:05 pm

Britain’s net payments to Brussels will double to £6.4bn within four years, according to fresh figures from the Treasury, reflecting the country’s rising affluence and the cost of subsidies to Eastern Europe. The chief underlying cause is a summit deal struck by Tony Blair in December 2005 to slash the UK’s rebate by exempting the new member states, in perpetuity.

The data, uncovered by the think-tank Global Vision, shows that Britain’s average net payments will rise sharply from £3.27bn a year over the last decade to around £6.4bn during the period from 2011 to 2014.”

Senior Lib Dem defects. 7 June, 2007

Filed under: Kersal — odze @ 6:44 pm

Dr. Wolfson a local campaigner from higher Broughton and former member of Salford’s Liberal Democrats executive has defected today to the Conservative. He joins former deputy leader of Salford’s Lib Dem group Tim Perkins.

Dr. Wolfson Said “ever since Ming Campbell has taken over, the Lib Dems have fallen into disarray. It has become demonstrably clear that David Cameron has reformed the Conservatives and is ready and competent to return to government.”

A delighted Chairman of Kersal Conservatives Shneur Odze welcomed him saying “Dr. Wolfson has made a significant contribution to Kersal and will doubles be a significant asset to the Conservatives locally adding to the many new members who have already joined since the last election.”
