Update 29 July, 2007

The brave young boy that chased the thieves was driven off the road by them and his car written off, thank god he is ok. Do you think the police where interested in catching the thieves, they attended 90 minutes later to interrogate the boy as a suspect instead of a victim. I truly hope the police shape up if they want to keep the community on side.

As I have been told more than once this weekend if we where reporting a speeding offence they would be round in a flash to deliver the ticket.

More Crime 29 July, 2007

On Friday a man’s van was broken into and his sat nav stolen on Cavendish Road. Why is it noteworthy? Because sadly it’s an everyday crime in our area. Except that the police know who they are, and where they live and that they are singularly responsible for a great percentage of crime in our area. When the police did finally arrive from Salford precinct they where too late and not particularly interested. What is it going to take them to do for the police to pick them up and lock them away for more than a few days. They committed the crime in front of many people knowing that it would take the police a great deal of time to come, they are laughing in our faces. Until the police wake up to reopening Park lane police station so we can have local and intelligence led policing these hooligans will continue with impunity. We don’t need Police three miles away or councillors that live in Swinton we need police and local Councillors and services for local people, simple I know but effective.

Casino scrapped Hurray! 11 July, 2007

Filed under: Kersal, politics — odze @ 1:19 pm

Gordon Brown PM has just announced that the super casino in Manchester in being scraped, pinch me I want to wake up. Furthermore he sights the fact that the City Council has not properly explored the regenaration aspect, has the PM been reading my blog.

I thought I stuck my neck out because I was right but would be unpopular opposition the casino, but now I know I was right, Graham Stringer is for it. Its worth it just to see him mad with rage. If you want any further good ideas Mr. Brown you’re welcome to drop me a line.

Victim of crime 8 July, 2007

Filed under: Crime — odze @ 10:47 am

Last night I was the victim of a minor racial crime. I must thank the police as it was them on an anti terror watch that saw it and stopped both the perpetrator and myself and insisted that I pursue the matter. I don’t know which is sadder that without the police there I would not have done anything or the alarming regularity in which such incidents occur. Either way who said active policing does not work?

Déjà vu its back to the 70’s 6 July, 2007

Unemployment up, postal and rubbish strikes, interest rates up, am I the only one that feels we are regressing 30 years? No doubt the “new” PM will blame it on the last chancellor after all that what he did a decade ago.

David Sumberg MEP 2 July, 2007

Filed under: Europe — odze @ 1:00 pm

I received the very sad news that David Sumberg MEP will be standing down at the end of this term.

David was the MP for Bury South between 1983-1997, he twice visited Sedgley a ward in his old Constituency when I was the candidate, and I have never seen anyone so well received. He was by his own admission like myself not signed up to the European superstate so he will doubly lost.

I would like to thank him and his family for their hard work and forbearance and wish them all the best in whatever he goes on to.

Latest crime spree 2 July, 2007

Filed under: Crime — odze @ 12:53 pm

It’s been a busy weekend for me, besides dodging the rain to attend numerous community and family events, I was dealing with residents in three different pats of the ward who where victims of crime.

One area two robbery’s, one road slashed tyres and the other a mugging. Fear not however according to the government crime is falling dramatically, when are they reopening park lane police station?
