I am shocked that the expected meteoric rise of James Murdock has not featured more heavily in the media, the mans more powerful that most leaders of country’s. Could it be that it is just what’s expected? Or is my question more rhetorical then that.
The Murdock Empire makes Lord Beaverbrook influence look justified and rational. The Diversity of their media “stable” and its management style are bad enough; its global span is the killer. It stretches from china to Georgia from Australia to Argentina in all its influence is used to coerce and even change governments, are the journalists scared to be blacklisted for future work should they voice an opinion.
What concerns me is, Rupert style was to give the general direction to his editors and staff, they got the hint and fell into line, or lost their jobs.James is much more of a control freak, you don’t have to read Alistair Campbell’s diary’s and listen to former son editors to know how James micro manages and even edits over copy.
James private ambition is to deepen as well as broaden his influence, look how he has trammelled competition regardless if it was a threat or just, just because he can.
Personally for me James bias against free speech and his stance on Israel will be his undoing by the people, global trends are towards more open media, News international belongs to the 20th not 21st century. I hope!
