If I could see through the haze of his political bias against the Conservatives, I would congratulate Michael Crick on exposing how Labour and the Ld’s our shoveling Tax payers money in a large scale to fund their party. It was the one issue as a Councillor I vehemently disagreed with my Local party, and was the only ONE I voted against, the 1000% increase in Councillor’s pay.
At a time remember where council Tax was going up by 12% typically, to the mirth and derision of the Labour whip and most of his colleges. They had and have no shame in picking our pockets.
My primary concern was and is, the nature of people i would attract to elected office, mainly the party hacks, who hold onto their seats at all costs. at the expense of independent people who can’t get selected, and are less attracted to staying more than one term, IF they do make it. These are the people who make local politics real and keep it in touch with reality. Unfortunately as it’s less sensationalist Crick is not interested in it.
In all one again Team Cameron come out with much credit for how they have reformed the party, even if the BBC can’t bring themselves to say it. It’s not headline grabbing issue, it’s too involved, but probably the story of the decade (after the level of Council Tax) for Local Government!
